We all have gone through the feeling of betrayal either by betraying someone or when someone betrays us.
Agree?
Unfortunately this is the cycle of life where some of us have to go through this in order to grow, go beyond and get a deeper understanding. It also makes one a more compassionate human being when you have gone through this, in my opinion. When I say this, it does not mean that we cannot stop it before happening but some of us have to go through this to learn the lesson and blossom. When you are in the middle of the situation it is very hard to see the gifts in it but in hindsight one can hopefully see them and let go of the pain gradually. Over time we realize that what happens, happens for the best, even though its excruciating pain when we are in it.
Through the years I have learnt a very powerful lesson through my painful experiences, which I would like to share today. Yes, betrayal from another is extremely painful but the more painful for your own soul is when YOU HAVE BETRAYED YOUR OWN SELF. In my eyes that is the most harmful to you, your soul, and your growth.
What is betraying self?
Betraying self means when you are not honest with self, which leads you to making choices that are not in alignment with who you truly are and your feelings.
The most painful for me was when I realized that because I Have betrayed myself time and again, somewhere I gave others the open invitation to do the same to me, to treat me in the same manner. When I realized this, it was one of the most defeating moments of my life, but that’s also where my growth started. After analyzing, sitting with self, questioning, finding answers, why would I do something like this, I understood beneath it all it was my own lack of self-worth and what kind of a relationship I shared with myself.
The relationship you share with yourself, is exactly proportionate to the relationship you share with others. The permission you give self, is exactly the permission you give others how to be with you. Today I have a much better relationship with self and it keeps growing. It’s a lifetime work in progress but I listen to me, hear me, spend time with me, value me way more than ever. This has shown me why certain situations come my way and how can I learn to trust in the universe and improve my own relationship with self.
I would like to encourage each one of you reading this blog to try this perspective and see where it takes you. It is important to understand what is the core feeling we feel and how come certain experiences come our way. Till we understand this, there is a chance it may crop up in different aspects of our life and affect our growth. We have the ability to control our actions towards self not another person’s actions. So let’s all work together to become more aware of self.
