Therapeutic Modalities Unnati works with
Transpersonal Therapy
Transpersonal therapy takes a more holistic approach, addressing mental, physical, social, emotional, creative, spiritual and intellectual needs, with an emphasis on the role of a healthy spirit in healing. It helps you to go beyond to find your true self. Transpersonal therapy places great emphasis on honesty, open-mindedness, and self-awareness on the part of the therapist as well as the client in order to facilitate growth and healing. It takes into consideration your entire self and helps you to see life from place of more wisdom.
Gestalt Therapy
Gestalt therapy is a form of psychotherapy which emphasizes personal responsibility, and focuses upon the individual’s experience in the present moment. It focuses on an individual’s present life and challenges rather than delving into past experiences. This approach stresses the importance of understanding the context of a person’s life and taking responsibility rather than placing blame. Helps you to understand the patterns that are holding you back to live a more purposeful life.
Systems Therapy (Murray Bowen)
Systems therapy draws on systems thinking in its view of the family as an emotional unit. This theory holds that individuals are inseparable from their network of relationships. We go through your family of origin, to understand behaviour, patterns that may be affecting you in your present life. This helps you to understand what you are carrying with you through generations and does it still make sense for you to carry it forward or leave it behind.
Person-Centered Therapy (Carl Rogers)
Person-Centered therapy is based on the concept that every individual has the resources to change and align to their potential, if given a safe and secure environment to do so. This theory also speaks to the understanding and acceptance of the therapist, as only when one practices these attributes will one be able to create that for another.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
The amalgamation of Behavioral Therapy (BT) and Cognitive Therapy (CT) has given birth to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a type of talk therapy where the goal is to restructure the negative cognitions into balanced cognitions. It helps to identify maladaptive thoughts, patterns, behavior, responses so one can get better equipped to deal with it by substituting them with thoughts, patterns, behavior, responses that are useful and helpful. It helps to view challenging situations in a new light in turn responding to it in a more effective manner.
Narrative Therapy
Storytelling has been a process that most people can relate to very easily as this is a part of our growing years. For most it connects to many pleasant memories and can mould lives. Narrative therapy relates to the essence of storytelling which can bring a lot of comfort, ease, excitement, nostalgia, reframing by adding new perspectives, imagination, all at once. Developed in the 1980s it helps to see the client as an expert in their own life. Going through an event can lead to meaning making which influences how we view self and the world. Narrative therapy helps to re-narrate the story in a manner where new perspectives can settle in, leading to a beneficial outcome.
Solution Focused Therapy
As the name suggests, Solution Focused Therapy focuses on the solution and not the problem. It incorporates the principles of positive psychology, along with providing hope and motivation to achieve the desirable behavioral change. It helps to co-create a sustainable solution that can be willingly implemented.
Existential Therapy
Existential Therapy focuses on concepts that can be applied to human existence like freedom, death, responsibility and the meaning of life. It helps to understand the true meaning of these concepts in the here and now and the growth that comes with it. It takes into consideration the human condition as a whole by looking at not only the capacity but also acknowledging the limitations.
Adlerian Therapy
A positive, humanistic and integrative therapy that can be molded as per the individual and there presenting problem. A goal-oriented approach where insight is gained regarding the struggles and behaviors. Importance is given to a sense of belonging and interconnectedness of all humans.
Somatic Experiencing Therapy
Somatic experiencing is a body-oriented therapeutic model which works with the nervous system response to heal trauma and other stress disorders. It helps to assess where a person feels stuck in a fight, flight or freeze response and provides appropriate resources and tools to settle this physiological state and helps to feel a sense of freedom and stability.
Psychodynamic Therapy
A form of talk therapy which helps to better understand emotional patterns and their roots, as this way one is better equipped to develop coping mechanisms and deal with the problems. Figuring a way to better manage mental and emotional distress, psychodynamic therapy promotes self-reflection, insight and emotional growth as it takes into consideration how people think, feel and act.
